On behalf of the Global Legislators Organisation (GLOBE International) and the Congress and Senate ofMexico I write to inform you that a formal invitation will be issued in the coming week for you to lead adelegation from your legislature of up to three senior members to the 2ndWorld Summit of Legislators.The Summit will convene in the main chamber of the Congress of Mexico from 2pm on Friday 6thJuneand thereafter meeting throughout Saturday 7thJune and Sunday 8thJune. The Summit will concludeat 5pm on the Sunday.We are delighted to report that the Summit is being supported by the United Nationsthrough the office of Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the World Bank Group through the office of BankPresident Jim Yong Kim and the Global Environment Facility through the CEO and Chairperson, Dr. NaokoIshii.The Summit will be the beginning of a substantial cooperation with the United Nations known as thePartnership for Legislation. The Partnership will support the work of national legislators in creating theregulatory and legislative frameworks to better advance the sustainable development agenda, with aparticular focus on climate change, forests and natural capital accounting. Speaking in support of the WorldSummit of Legislators,UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, said:“Parliamentarians have a profoundinfluence. They are at the heart of democratic governance and importantly translate global standards intonational action.”TheWSL2014 will convene at a critical moment in the international processes to agree a set of SustainableDevelopment Goals (SDGs) and a post-2020 climate change agreement. It will be the first time that leadersfrom so many parliaments will come together to agree a common position on the role that national legislationshould play in the context of the sustainable development agenda. WSL2014 promises to be the moment theinternational community, at the highest level, recognises the critical role of legislators and parliaments indelivering a future sustainable development agenda that benefits all our people.

The Global Legislators Organization will be undertaking the logistical arrangements for the Summit.
