Subject: Tenth Session of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification(UNCCD) Round Table for Parliamentarians (Windhoek, Republic Namibia,20-21 September 2013)
We have the honor to refer to previous communication (August 2012) with yourNational Parliament in which the UNCCD Secretariat informed on the organization of theabove-mentioned event in 2013 and invited you to designate a contact person.We are pleased to inform that the Republic of Namibia has generously offered to hostthe Eleventh Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the UNCCD. It is thereforeplanned to organize the Round Table for Parliamentarians at the venue of the COP 11 inWindhoek on 20-21 September 2013.We have the honor to cordially invite you to attend or designate a representative fromyour National Assembly to actively participate in the Tenth Session of the Round Table forParliamentarians.This event is jointly organized by the National Assembly of the Republic of Namibiaand the UNCCD Secretariat. It will take place at the Windhoek Country Club Resort, B1Western Bypass in Windhoek South.During the Round Table, Parliamentarians will share views and provide theConference of the Parties with specific recommendations of direct interest to theimplementation of the UNCCD. Please find attached the provisional agenda for theparliamentarian session.Members of Parliament from around the world will participate in this important event.The working languages for the meeting will be English, French and Spanish.In order to assist the Parliamentarians in preparing for the Round Table session, adocument entitled “information for participants” (ICCD/COP(11)/INF.1) is made availableon the UNCCD website (www.unccd.int) together with other substantive documentation.
