Where is the green economy?Prosperity and sustainability “after the crisis”The University of Copenhagen is pleased to invite you to aSustainability Lecture withTim Jackson,Author of the re-nowned bookProsperity without Growthand Professor ofSustainable Development at University of Surrey.As the world faces recession, climate change, inequity and more, Tim Jacksonchallenges the established economic principles and explores a fundamen-tal restructuring of our financial system so that we might stop feeding thecrises and start investing in our future.His book Prosperity without Growth - Economics for a Finite Planet whichhas been translated into 15 languages, analyses the complex relationshipsbetween growth, environmental crises and social recession and investigatesto what extend growth does in fact increase human well being.
Tim Jackson is Professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Surrey andDirector of the Sustainable Lifestyles Research Group – a multi-disciplinary researchgroup funded by the UK government, which explores the complex links between peo-ple’s lifestyles, societal values and sustainability.From 2004 to 2011 Tim Jackson was Economics Commissioner on the UK SustainableDevelopment Commission, where his work culminated in the publication of the con-troversial book Prosperity without Growth – economics for a finite planet (Earthscan2009). In 2013 he was awarded a three year Professorial Fellowship to study Prosperityand Sustainability in the Green Economy (PASSAGE).
