Dear Colleague,Lithuania took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July 2013. TheSeimas of the Republic of Lithuania has planned to host nine events in the framework of theparliamentary dimension of the Presidency.It gives me great pleasure to invite representatives of your Parliament to one of the events –the inaugural meeting of the interparliamentary conference under Article 13 of the Treaty onStability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union to be held on16–17 October 2013 in the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania in Vilnius. The decision toestablish the new conference, which we propose to call the Interparliamentary Conference onEconomic and Financial Governance of the European Union, was taken by the Conference ofSpeakers of the European Union Parliaments held in Nicosia on 23 April 2013.May I kindly ask you to forward the enclosed invitation by Mr Bronius Bradauskas, Chair ofthe Committee on Budget and Finance, and Mr Remigijus Žemaitaitis, Chair of theCommittee on Economics, to the chairs of respective committees in your Parliament.
