In the context of the parliamentary dimension of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EuropeanUnion, in the second half of 2012, it is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend the Conference ofthe Chairpersons of Social Affairs Committees, which will be held at the Conference Centre «Filoxenia»,in Nicosia, on 16 and 17 December 2012.The Conference will focus on the EU priorities and the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Councilof the EU in the field of social affairs, the issue of development vs austerity and how to safeguard andpromote social cohesion, as well as ways to achieve greater social inclusion through appropriate policymeasures.Regarding the social programme, a dinner followed by a cultural event are foreseen for the evening of16 December 2012.
