Invitation to meeting for Environment and Foreign Affairs Committee Chairs

Dear Chairmen,This year Europe and the world will take important decisions on how to structureour common sustainable future. In the midst of the financial crisis we shall con-sider how we can ensure a greening Europe in a greener and more sustainableworld and set clear and ambitious goals for our work in the coming years. Wemust revisit development assistance and discuss how it can combine incentives togrowth and a green economyIt therefore gives us great pleasure to invite you to a meeting for Environment andForeign Affairs Committee (including Development Cooperation) Chairs under theauspices of the Danish EU-Presidency to set focus on the UN Conference on Sus-tainable Development (Rio+20) and the European 7thEnvironment Action Pro-gramme.The meeting will take place on Monday 14 May to Tuesday 15 May in the DanishParliament, Christiansborg Palace. The meeting will offer an opportunity to takestock of the preparations for Rio+20 and debate how Europe in general and par-liamentarians in particular can address the challenges at Rio+20 and reflect it inour common Environment Action Programme.We kindly ask you to register your participation in the meeting by filling out theenclosed registration form and send it to[email protected].Please return the in-cluded hotel registration form directly to the Palace Hotel. The deadline for regis-tration is 18 April 2012.We enclose the draft agenda as well as practical information concerning theevent.
