Women in a Changing Middle East and North Africa– Facing Challenges and Seizing OpportunitiesThe conference will take placeMonday April 16th2012, 09:00-16:00at Dronningesalen,The Royal LibrarySøren Kierkegaards Plads 11221 København KThe revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa have had a profound impact on the reality andeveryday lives of women in the Middle East and North Africa. However, strengthening genderequality in the region remains a great challenge. The aim of the conference is to take stock of thesituation, look into the future and discuss challenges and opportunities for women in the region.Activists, politicians, journalists and scholars from the MENA and Denmark will participate in theconference, which will be opened by the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Villy Søvndal. Apanel of academics and parliamentarians from the Middle East and North Africa will as wellparticipate in the debate.A detailed programme will be posted shortly.The conference on April 16this followed by a two-day internal partner meeting for KVINFO’s morethan 70 partners in the MENA region and Denmark.Practical informationParticipation in the conference is free, but it is necessary to register.
