MrMogensLykketoftPresidentoftheDanishParliamentFolketinget,ChristiansborgDK‐1240COPENHAGENKDENMARKJuly9,2012HonourableMrMogensLykketoft,ItisourpleasuretoextendaninvitationforuptothreemembersofyourparliamenttoattendtheGlobalOrganizationofParliamentariansAgainstCorruption’s(GOPAC)FifthGlobalConferenceofParliamentariansAgainstCorruptiontobeheldinManila,PhilippinesfromJanuary31toFebruary2,2013.TheconferenceisthejointinitiativeoftheSenateofPhilippines,GOPAC,theSouthEastAsianParliamentariansAgainstCorruptionandtheGOPACNationalChapterinthePhilippines.Theconferencepromisestobeourmostsuccessfultodate,withGOPACmembersandprospectivemembersjoiningusfromallovertheworld,alongwithinternationalorganizationsandobserverscommittedtothepreventionofcorruption.Onceagain,participantswillhavetheopportunitytopartakeinthoughtfuldiscussionsandworkshopsaimedatensuringtheyhavetheskillstocombatcorruptionandprovidingthemaplatformtohelpotherslearnfromtheirmanysuccesses.Thisisauniqueandinnovativeeventwiththesoleagendaoffightingthescourgeofcorruptionineachofourcountries.EachGlobalConferencesinceourfoundinghasenabledGOPACtoflourishandournetworkofdedicatedparliamentarianstogrow.OurfirstconferenceinOttawasetthestageforGOPACandbroughttogetherover170parliamentarians,107‐plusobserversandparliamentarystaff.ThefollowingyearinArushawewereabletosetaconcreteagendafortheorganization.In2008inKuwaitCityweadoptedspecificpolicypositionsalignedtotheUNCACandaskedmembersandchapterstoreview,domesticateandbegintoimplementcorrectiveactions.OurlastconferenceinMexicowasaplatformtoillustratestepsmembershavetaken,strategiseimprovedcapacitybuilding,andoutlineakeyfive‐yearplanfortheorganization.
