Message from: Willemien Bax, Head of Public Affairs, OECDDear Member of Parliament,The OECD would like to alert you to the nextOECD High-level Parliamentary Seminar,which will take placeonThursday 8 and Friday 9 March 2012.Thanks to the kind offer of the Chilean Chamber ofRepresentatives the seminar will be held inChile.This is the first time that an OECD High-LevelParliamentary Seminar takes place outside of Paris.The main focus of the Seminar will be on governance. Amongst the topics will be the OECD programme ofco-operation with Chile’s Chamber of Representatives to establish aDepartment for Law Evaluationas oneof the first initiatives to support legislative bodies in a practical way, monitoring implementation oflegislation. This last topic would be particularly interesting for MPs and also staff from technical andprofessional units within parliamentary bodies whose main task is the evaluation of the performance oflaws.The seminar is also open to representatives from the parliamentary/legislative branch of government. Itoffers an exceptional opportunity for Members of Parliament to exchange views with their colleagues andOECD experts on a range of key issues. Staffers are very welcome to attend.We will contact you shortly with more details about the event and its programme. This information will alsobe available on the OECD website (www.oecd.org/parliamentarians).With regard to the High-Level Parliamentary Seminar that took place in October 2011 in Paris, thePowerPoint presentationsmade available by OECD experts at the seminar can be found on the seminar’sweb page,together with asummaryof the sessions.The nextAnnual Meeting of the OECD with the Economics and Security Committee of the NATOParliamentary Assemblywill take place next Friday10 FebruaryinParis.NATO has indicated that it wouldbe very interested in MP and MEPs not involved in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to attend.
