This session will facilitate an open discussion on the African development policies andstrategies for assistance of the “older” EU member states and the progress to date of the“new” EU donor countries. Although the new EU countries are relatively new players in thefield of African development cooperation, they have a great deal of experience intransformation-related issues. They have faced similar problems as the African countriesand therefore they could bring in an added value by sharing information, insights andopportunities.

The session willassist in promoting a North-South dialogue on development strategies, and mobilizingEuropean parliamentary action to support the MDGs.
