Dear Standing Committee Member,Following the conclusion of our very successful Twentieth Annual Session inBelgrade, I am pleased to forward to you the Belgrade Declaration adopted on July 10,2011. I hope you agree that the Session enabled some thorough discussions and debates onOSCE-related issues. The Belgrade Declaration includes a number of focused proposals onhow to improve the work of the OSCE, including through increased parliamentaryoversight. In addition, the supplementary resolutions passed by the Assembly represent asolid body of recommendations on key topical issues.In order to facilitate the work of the Vice-Chairs of our three General Committees inpreparing follow-up reports, I would welcome any feedback that you may have on theDeclaration and resolutions. In particular, reports about your parliamentary debates onAssembly issues, and about other actions of your parliament and government in following-up on OSCE PA recommendations, would provide a strong supplement to their reports.Please also find enclosed a list of the new OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Bureau,following the Belgrade Session.I look forward to seeing you again soon.
