United Nations MDG Summit Meeting - September 20-22, 2010The Secretary-General of the United Nations has called for a summit meeting on theMDGs (i.e., the Millennium Development Goals) September 20-22, 2010, in New York.Gender equality is one of the goals (MDG3), and one that is generating muchresistance from some institutions, both secular and religious.The patriarchal mindset still prevails worldwide, and radically so in someinstitutions. Resistance to MDG3 may be the best case example of the nefariousinfluence of patriarchal institutions on sustainable development and othersignificant issues of social and environmental justice.
