Dear Colleague,Within the framework of the Swedish EU Presidency, the Swedish Parliament will beorganising a gender equality conference on Thursday and Friday, 12–13 November2009. The Committee on the Labour Market of the Swedish Parliament will host theconference which will address issues of interest to the NCEO (Network ofParliamentary Committees for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men in theEuropean Union), ie. the committees responsible for gender equality issues in thenational parliaments of the EU and the European Parliament's Committee onWomen's Rights and Equality Between Women and Men.The general theme of the conference will be Requirements for gender-equalparticipation in politics and the workplace. The issues to be discussed will bedelimited and specified later.The conference will be held at the Swedish Parliament in Stockholm.The conference will begin with lunch on Thursday 12 November at 1 pm, and thework of the conference will conclude at lunchtime on Friday 13 November. OnThursday evening the Swedish Parliament will host a dinner for conference delegates.This is advance information only, to facilitate the booking of dates.
