Re. Appointment of the Permanent Memberof the COSAC Secretariat
Dear Colleagues,At our meeting in Stockholm on 5 - 6 July we agreed to aim for a decision at theXLII COSAC in Stockholm on 4 - 6 October regarding the appointment of thePermanent Member of the COSAC Secretariat for the next term of office. The issueis included as an item for the Chairpersons in the draft agenda of the XLII COSACmeeting which we approved.According to the Rules of Procedures of COSAC (Article 11bis.)the PermanentMember of the COSAC Secretariat is appointed by the COSAC Chairpersons on theproposal of the Presidential Troika. I intend to take this matter up at the Troikameeting, and allow for the Troika members to meet the nominee(s) before agreeingon a proposal.Article 11bis.of the Rules of Procedure also states that the Permanent Member canserve two terms of office. The re-appointment of the present holder of the post, MsLoreta RAULINAITYTE, as was put forward during our debate on 6 July, istherefore possible, should she be nominated by the Lithuanian Seimas.With a view to the decision to be taken in Stockholm on 5 October, I would herebylike to give you the opportunity to submit nominations for the post.The Presidency would like to receive nominations by 20 September 2009 at the latest,addressed to The Riksdag, Att.: Ms. Eva Sterndal, SE 100 12 Stockholm, SWEDEN
