Dear Mr. President!

With pleasure I have the honour to invite you and your colleagues - members of Folketing of the Kingdom Denmark to take part in inter-parliamentary conference «Project «Nordstream». Parliamentary dimension», which is hold at the initiative of the State Duma of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on March 31, 2009 in the Taurian palace in St.-Petersburg.

Underlining the importance of the project, I would like to remind You that in 2000 by the decision of the European Commission the project «Nordstream» had been granted the status of a Trans-European network (Trans-European Energy Networks - «TEN-E»). Realization of the project will provide a diversification of routes of import of gas to the Western Europe, and also reliability and flexibility of energy suppliers that will promote strengthening of energy safety of Europe.

Goals of the conference are to draw attention of members of parliaments to a number of the problems accompanying to building of a gas pipeline.

It’s planned the presentation of the project «Nordstream» and signing of the final document.

Action format – 80 persons. The Countries-participants (3 representatives from each parliamentary delegation) are Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Sweden and Estonia, as well as the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Conference of Baltic sea.

Arrival of participants is supposed on March 30^th. Within the framework of the Conference it will be organized the study trip (ad libitum) to the Jamburgsky field on Yamal with departure on March 31 in the evening and returning to St.-Petersburg on April 1. Departure of participants is on April 1-2.

The State Duma signs on the dotted line of staying of participants of Conference in Russia.
