Dear GLOBE Dialogue Participant,
On behalf of the Rt Hon Elliot Morley MP, President of GLOBE International, I would like to announce the details of the next GLOBE G8+5 Legislators' Forum on climate change, to take place in Brazil from 19th - 21st February 2008.
The forum is being formally hosted by Brazilian Senators Slhessarenko, Casagrande and Lucena and Congressmen Palocci and Carvalho and it is with great pleasure that we can announce the participation in a high level opening session of the Forum of the Brazilian President, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has kindly agreed to host this high level Forum. The Draft Agenda for the Forum will be circulated on the 21st December. All G8 and +5 countries are kindly asked to convene a delegation of FIVE legislators/parliamentarians to participate.
Please find attached the following key documents:
The hosting Brazilian legislators have kindly arranged with the Governor of Amazonas for participating legislators the option of a three night visit (either before or after the Forum) to the Amazon Rainforest. There is also an option to visit an ethanol production facility near Sao Paulo. The letter from Mr Morley provides further details about these options.
Please also note the information detailed by Mr Morley relating to the policy papers that will be tabled for consensus agreement at the Forum.
