Kære Birthe Skaarup,

 

Som aftalt pr. telefon d.d. vil jeg gerne informere Folketingets Sundhedsudvalg om to internationale konferencer om erfaringer med lovgivningsmæssige tiltag mod rygning, om rygestoptilbud, om sundhedsrisici ved rygning m.m., som afvikles i september i Edinburgh og i oktober i Basel.

 

I forlængelse af den nye lov om røgfri miljøer og regeringens forslag om en national forebyggelsesplan som led i kvalitetsreformen kunne det være relevant for Sundhedsudvalgets medlemmer at deltage i en af eller begge disse konferencer, som samler politikere, forskere, sundhedspersonale, embedsmænd og patientforeninger fra hele Europa til præsentationer og workshops om rygning, restriktioner, rygestop m.m.

Der er indsat links til de to konferencer nedenfor, samt oplysninger om formål, udgifter m.m.

 

Jeg håber, at medlemmer af Sundhedsudvalget vil få mulighed for at deltage i disse konferencer, f.eks. i form af en delegationsrejse med repræsentanter for partierne.

This conference will present new research evidence on the health, behavioural, social and economic impacts of the legislation from Scotland, Europe and elsewhere; outline new policy initiatives; and provide a forum for discussing approaches to the development and implementation of smoke free legislation.

This international event will bring together researchers, policy makers and practitioners with the overall purpose of mobilising further effective action on smoke free legislation.

Tobacco consumption is the greatest single health risk of our time. [..] The 2007 conference in Basel will present an overview of what has been achieved and what still needs to be done, an overview of successes and failures en route to a tobacco-free Europe. Where do we stand? What do we want to achieve? What does the situation with tobacco control in Europe look like at this point in time? Progressive and effective tobacco control requires high-level implementation in all European countries.

[..] Among the focal points of the conference will be the presentation of new results on Health and Tobacco, Passive Smoking and Health, the state of implementation of the WHO Framework Convention (FCTC), and the relevance of products with reduced toxic effects. National programmes on Tobacco Prevention will be presented. [..] The goal is to transform knowledge into action and promote discourse between the worlds of science, public health, politics and the general public. [..] This conference will send out a resounding call to politicians: Europe must become tobacco-free!

[..] We therefore call on decision-makers of all European countries to push for Tobacco Control at home and throughout Europe. You are cordially invited to join us in your commitment to reach this goal. Come to Basel in 2007 to make yourself heard for Europe.

Følgende organisationer har bidraget økonomisk: Swiss Tobacco Control Fund (Swiss Office of Public Health), Swiss Cancer League, Oncosuisse, Schweizerische Herzstiftung, German Cancer Society. Derudover har Pfizer bidraget økonomisk til afvikling af konferencen.

Plenar-møder og tema-sessioner

Konferencen er opdelt i henholdsvis plenar-møder for alle deltagere samt i tema-opdelte sessioner, hvor man kan vælge efter særlige interesser.

Følgende tema-sessioner kunne have særlig interesse: Rygestop via ”stop-linjer”, lovgivning mod passiv rygning, fremtidens tobakskontrol i Europa, sundhedspersonalets anvendelse af rygestop m.v.

Forskere fra Kræftens Bekæmpelse samt Region Hovedstadens Center for Forskning og Forebyggelse vil præsentere undersøgelsesresultater under tema-sessionerne i Basel.

 

 

Jeg skal for god ordens skyld oplyse, at Pfizer i december 2006 lancerede et nyt receptpligtigt lægemiddel til rygestop.
