Dear Dr Finn KAMPER-JORGENSEN,
Following our previous exchanges, and on behalf of the EUREC Core Group, we are happy to invite you to a EUREC workshop, restricted to one representative per country.
During the Conference on Research Ethics Committees in Europe “Facing the Future together†in Brussels (27 and 28 January 2005), representatives from national associations of local Research Ethics Committees (RECs) decided to work together in order to maintain and develop high quality standards in the protection of human subjects in Europe. They committed themselves to create a network of national networks of RECs, called EUREC, open to national associations of local RECs or to national RECs. (The EUREC-Declaration can be seen at EUREC-Website www.eurecnet.org).
The European Commission encouraged representatives of National Associations and experts to draft a proposal on this basis.
Since 2005 a core group of REC-representatives and experts started to develop the EUREC-Network. EUREC aims at the protection of human subjects in biomedical research by the following actions:
§ Creation of a European network of local, national and regional networks though a European platform of exchange of local Research Ethics Committees (REC). EUREC will promote capacity building and connections between these networks.
On behalf of the EUREC Core Group we would like to invite you to a meeting of national representatives of RECs as further step to proceed with EUREC.
