Supplementary Items
The deadline for Supplementary Items for consideration to the Annual Session in
Washington was last Friday, June 10. Eighteen Supplementary Items met the qualification of co-
sponsorship by at least twenty members from four countries by the June 10 deadline. Four
proposed Supplementary Items failed to receive the necessary co-sponsorship prior to the deadline.
I attach those Supplementary Items that have met the qualifications for your information. They will
also be posted on our website today.
Two supplementary items related to the same subject, Nagorno-Karabakh, were submitted.
Since these items are on the same subject, both principal sponsors have been notified and will
hopefully make an effort to reach a compromise, as is called for in Rule 20.2 of the Parliamentary
Assembly’s Rules of Procedure. The deadline for such compromise agreement is midnight on
Wednesday, June 15.
As you know, the Standing Committee must decide by a two-thirds majority of the votes
cast whether to refer Supplementary Items for further consideration by either the Standing
Committee or the Plenary. Proposed Amendments to Supplementary Items must be received at the
Secretariat by no later than Friday, June 24. The qualifying Supplemental Items which have been
submitted in English are currently being translated into Russian and French and will be forwarded
to you as quickly as possible.
May I also take this opportunity to remind everyone that the deadline for Amendments to
the Draft Resolutions of the Rapporteurs of the three General Committees must be submitted no
later than Friday of this week, June 17. If you have any questions or need further clarification,
