Noortje de Jong Matildelundsvej 44 8260 Viby J Dear Noortje de Jong The minister has asked me to answer your letter dated the 19th of august 2004. At the ministry’s request, Aarhus Technical College (ATC) has now commented on the issues raised in your letter.   ATC informs that the college has been very careful to bring to the students’ attention the fact that the last semester of the education takes place at an enterprise - for example in each student’s homeland. ATC collaborates with agencies and institutions in China, Macedonia and Uzbekistan; they have informed ATC that it should be possible to arrange for traineeships in these countries. At its homepage, ATC informs international students of their responsibility for finding a training placement: The study at ATC lasts 3 terms (1½ year), after which the students must complete the education in an enterprise for at least ½ year (practical training). It is the responsibility to the student to arrange a practical training placement. The placement is not a part of the admission to the college.
1 The enterprise can be situated anywhere – for instance in the student’s native country, but the study must be approved by the college, and the final examination takes place at the college. Taking into account the fact that ATC has made this information available, the ministry of education find that you have been able to acquaint yourselves with the criteria for the education. However, the ministry shall suggest to the college that it takes extra care when informing present and future international students of the situation related to practical training. I have contacted The Danish Immigration Service. The Danish Immigration Service have informed us that it is possible for them to provide you with a work permit, so that you will be able to apply for a traineeship. Please contact Marianne Braun at ATC for further information. Yours sincerely Charlotte Kjær Head of Section Direct phone: +45 3392 5711 E-mail: [email protected]
