2004-12-01 The  Nordic  Africa  Institute  was  founded  in  1962.  It  is  a  research,  documentation  and  information  centre  on modern  Africa  for  the  Nordic  countries.    The  Institute  encourages  research  and  studies  on  Africa  within  the Nordic countries as well as cooperation between African and Nordic researchers, and dissemination of information. The Institute is jointly financed by the five Nordic countries.    Africa Day for the Nordic Parliaments The  Nordic  Africa  Institute  has  the  pleasure  of  inviting  You  to  a  seminar  on  the  current discourse on Africa. The purpose of the seminar is to invite parliamentarians and their colleagues to discuss current affairs and policies on Africa, to introduce You to the resources of the Institute and to provide ideas about how those resources can be exploited.   Established researchers will lead the discussions on different development issues such as Aids, current conflicts and conflict resolution on the African continent. The seminar will also cover development policies concerning aid dependency, coherence and partnership. The institute will provide insight of micro- and macro level topics and present research results, and together with the  participants,  explore  how  these  best  can  be  utilised.  The  seminar  will  also  include  an introduction  to  the  resources     material  and  human     of  the  institute,  including  recent publications.   Date:  Monday,  February  14,  2005  at  the  premises  of  the  Nordic  Africa  Institute  in  Uppsala, Sweden.  We  will  start  with  coffee  and  registration  between  10:00 10:30.  The  seminar  time  is scheduled  between  10:30-17:00.  Drinks  and  snacks  and  an  opportunity  for  more  networking 17:00-18:00. Costs: Travel and accommodation costs are to be covered by the participants. The Institute will offer lunch, coffee and the evening event.
