Dear Uddannelsesudvalg,
I am writing here as a mother of two children whom both have attended
private schools in the Copenhagen area. They have both now respectively
left and are following the career of their choice.
This was a conscious choice made by my husband and I many years ago,
and have been satisfied with both the academic level and social skills
taught.
The fact that we had at that time the possibility to make a choice, and that
there were so many different types of schools and systems to choose
from, completely impressed me. I hold a british passport, which tells you
that I was brought up under the good old English educational system,
which means very little freedom of choice, an authoritarian attitude
towards handling and communicating with children, and an inborn fight
to get to the top, no matter who you tread on on the way up.
So, it has been a joy and a release for me as a mother to be able to pick
and choose and decide. Knowing that my children would not experience,
what I would now consider to be indoctrination, but be enlightened and
encouraged to live in a country where freedom of speech and democracy
are considered to be as important as other more academic subjects!
But with what sadness I hear about the new Friskoleloven, which after
having read it thoroughly, am shocked and disappointed and have a
strong feeling that there is some hidden agenda here. The reason why I
think this, is due to the fact that I am a liberal person, and therefore a
true supporter of Anders Fogh Rasmussen and his party.
Where is the liberalism and freedom of choice in this new proposal?

I will never forget a speech of Mr. Rasmussens, when he made it clear
that there has got to be a choice, and that choice is and will always be up
to the individual to take and that he would ensure that the political

With this new law my children will not enjoy their democratic right to
decide and choose upon a schooling system they feel to be suitable for
their own children, (my grandchildren) whatever it might be.
Yours sincerely,
